The life of St. John is built by its members. Whether your gifts are hospitality, music, prayer, organizing, or simply showing up — there is a place for you to serve. Contact Pastor Gillespie or any board member to get connected.
Worship Ministry
Altar Guild
Prepares the altar and worship space before each service — setting the table, preparing the communion elements, and caring for the linens and seasonal paraments. Open to women of the congregation.
Ushers & Greeters
Welcomes worshipers, guides seating, assists with the offering, and supports the flow of the Divine Service. Greeters welcome visitors at the door. Open to men, women, and older youth.
Choir & Handbells
The festival choir and handbell choir are currently on hiatus. St. John is seeking a church musician to lead these ministries. If you are interested or know someone who might be, please contact Pastor Gillespie.
Women’s Ministry — LWML
The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) is the official women’s auxiliary of the LCMS. St. John’s LWML chapter meets monthly for Bible study, prayer, and mission projects. The group organizes Advent by Candlelight, leads Muffins for Missions, hosts zone prayer offices, and designates the congregation’s Mission of the Month. All women of the congregation are welcome to join.
Men’s Ministry
Men’s Ministry meets on the second Sunday of the month for fellowship, study, and service. The group maintains an Adopt-a-Highway commitment on Highway 57, assists with the church picnic, and hosts soup suppers. The Elders also meet together with Men’s Ministry for spiritual oversight of the congregation. Open to all men of the congregation.
Families & School
PTL — Parent‑Teacher League
The PTL supports St. John Lutheran School through fundraising, events, and volunteer service. It organizes the Valentine’s Dance, Easter Egg Hunt, Brat Fry, and trivia night, and contributes approximately $10,000 annually to the school budget. Open to all school families and congregation members. Meets monthly on Monday evenings.
Sunday School & VBS
Sunday School meets after the Divine Service for weekly catechetical instruction for children. Vacation Bible School runs each summer, typically as a one-day Saturday program. Volunteer teachers and helpers are always needed. A background check is required for all who work with minors.
Parish Committees
The Board of Directors operates through five committees open to member participation. Speak to a board member or the pastor to get connected.
